Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty

This surgery is performed to correct external nasal deformities and to make the nose more aesthetically pleasing and proportionate to the face. It can be carried out using either an open or closed approach, depending on the individual’s nasal structure. Routine modifications in this surgery include:

  • Tip refinement
  • Nasal rotation correction
  • Reduction of nasal dorsal hump
  • Narrowing of the nasal bone width
  • Adjustment of the nasal wings (alar base)

The nasal tip is usually made smaller.

The angle between the base of the nose and the upper lip (nasolabial angle) should ideally be 100–110 degrees in men and 110–120 degrees in women. The dorsal hump is reduced, the nasal bones are narrowed, and the alar base may be trimmed from the side or beneath the nose if necessary.
